A tacit subscription is a method where the customer continues to receive and pay for a product unless they indicate their wish to cancel. This system is widely used in the press and publishing sectors through direct debit. Generally, the customer pays for the product when ordering or upon delivery if they opt for cash on delivery. While this approach limits the risk of non-payment, it can also reduce sales volume, especially if the company or product is not well-known.
An interesting alternative is to offer a satisfaction guarantee with a full refund within a specified period (e.g., 15, 20, or 30 days) to interested but hesitant customers. This gives them the opportunity to try the product and, if they are not satisfied, they can return it to the advertiser, who will then issue a refund. This type of guarantee can be an effective compromise for reassuring potential customers while maintaining a high level of trust.
