The French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM) is an official body established by the law of July 1, 1998. Its primary mission is to guarantee health safety by conducting evaluations and verifications proactively or at the request of manufacturers. It plays a crucial role in the medical innovation process in France, succeeding the former Medicines Agency. This agency is responsible for granting Marketing Authorizations (MAs) for medicines and other therapeutic products.
Its objective is to facilitate rapid patient access to medical advances by supporting manufacturers in their innovation initiatives, providing them with scientific, medical, and regulatory guidance. This is done without anticipating regulatory decisions that may be made later as part of ongoing evaluations. This support approach is accompanied by continuous monitoring of research advances, enabling the agency to anticipate future scientific, medical, and health challenges and to promote the development of appropriate models, guidelines, and regulations.
The Agency’s address is: Afssaps, 143/147 boulevard Anatole France, 93285 Saint-Denis Cedex. To contact them, you can call 01.55.87.30.00 or visit the website www.afssaps.fr.
