For example, for www.definitions-marketing.com, the extension is “.com”. There are various types of domain name extensions, including generic extensions such as top-level domains (TLDs) and country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs), as well as other less common ones. Generic extensions are typically associated with the nature of a website: for example, “.info” for news sites, “.com” and “.biz” for commercial sites, “.org” for organizations, and so on. However, some generic extensions, like “.com”, are available to everyone, regardless of the type of website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Country-code top-level domains are specific to each country, such as “.fr” for France, “.de” for Germany, “.cn” for China, “.it” for Italy, and so on. In some cases, registering a national domain extension requires proof of business activity or administrative presence in the corresponding country, while for other countries, registration is free but can be expensive. For example, the “.tv” extension for Tuvalu is primarily used by television channels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
A domain name includes an extension, which is the suffix placed after the dot in a web address.
