This practice aims to restrict the benefits of competition for consumers, notably by limiting price variation. Price fixing agreements generally take the form of agreed-upon price increases or the establishment of a floor price. These agreements are considered contrary to competition laws and are subject to penalties issued by the relevant authorities. Fines imposed for such practices can amount to tens or even hundreds of millions of euros, as evidenced by the conviction of six appliance manufacturers who were ordered to jointly pay nearly \u20ac190 million for orchestrating a coordinated price increase. Although price fixing is the most widespread form, other types of agreements can also exist.
