It can take various forms, such as a loose leaflet, a bound leaflet, or an object like a CD or a sample. Generally more expensive than a standard advertisement of equivalent size, the insert requires additional handling by the publisher and offers a stronger initial impact. However, once detached from the publication, it no longer generates further impressions, especially in the case of frequently handled publications.
