Depending on the company&#8217;s industry, their role may be more focused on communication or customer support. They are often considered the guardian of the company&#8217;s online reputation, although various external factors can influence this reputation. The social media manager is responsible for managing one or more teams of professionals with diverse profiles, such as community managers, graphic designers, social media analysts, and others, who may be grouped within a dedicated team. This position can be located nationally or internationally. For example, in 2016, Air France&#8217;s social media manager oversaw five social media centers located in different countries. While the roles of social media manager and community manager can sometimes be confused, particularly in large companies, they are generally distinct, with the former being more strategically oriented. It&#8217;s not uncommon for a social media manager to supervise several community managers within the same organization. In the social media and community management field, the term &#8220;social media manager&#8221; is sometimes abbreviated to &#8220;Somedman.&#8221; The AACC Digital&#8217;s Beyond initiative offers 25-minute Q&#038;A sessions on the social media manager profession.
