Brands can leverage or monetize the visibility of these individuals for marketing purposes. The term “content creator” emerged as a more prestigious alternative to “influencer,” a term widely used in the early days of influencer marketing but tarnished by the practices of some reality TV influencers. By emphasizing the creative work and the potential artistic dimension associated with sharing content on social media, this term reflects this reality. The line between a content creator and a “simple influencer” remains highly subjective and blurred. An individual who finds success on TikTok in fields like dance or acting may see that success stem from spontaneous, unpolished videos as much as from a methodical, polished, and time-consuming approach to production and editing.

At the beginning of 2023, no legal definition of the term “content creator” existed. However, a draft bill, currently open for public consultation, proposes the following definition: “A content creator is any natural or legal person whose activity consists, for remuneration (in kind or financially), of creating and producing content aimed at promoting goods or services, without this person necessarily being the manufacturer or provider of said goods or services. This content is disseminated via digital means of communication as part of expressing their own identity.” For a more in-depth analysis of the roles of content creators and the different existing typologies, please see [insert reference].

Regarding examples of TikTok influencers who could legitimately be considered content creators:

[308
post-159926","dictionnaire-dico","type-dictionnaire-dico","status-publish","hentry","categories-glossary-branding-brand-identity
["GET
