In the context of promotions, the virtual price represents the actual cost to the buyer once promotional mechanisms have been applied. For example, in a loyalty card points program, the virtual price corresponds to the final amount paid by the consumer after the discount has been deducted. This concept of a virtual price also applies to deferred discounts. It is frequently displayed next to the original price with the note “price after discount.”
