An electronic payment terminal is a device for reading payment cards, typically located near the cash registers in stores. It is designed to read the information from the magnetic stripe and/or electronic chip on the card. It also features a simplified keypad allowing the buyer to enter their PIN, which enables the recording of the purchase amount and online verification of the card’s validity. Portable, standalone versions of these terminals are also available, marketed for greater convenience.
