In the tourism and hospitality industry, the word “pax” is commonly used to refer to a passenger or customer. The tourism activity of a destination or tour operator is generally evaluated by counting bookings (which typically group several customers) or in terms of pax. Initially used in the context of air transport, the term “pax” has gradually expanded to other sectors of tourism.
