DKIM, short for “DomainKeys Identified Mail,” is an email authentication protocol originally developed by Yahoo and widely used by Yahoo Mail to filter emails. The principle behind DKIM is similar to that of registered mail and relies on identifying domains and IP addresses authorized to send emails at the DNS record level. When a server receives a message, it verifies whether the sender’s domain or IP address is indeed authorized by the domain identified as the legitimate sender. Using DKIM improves the delivery capabilities of email campaigns. The importance of DKIM and other similar protocols was discussed during a panel discussion at the 2017 event.
