A trademark is a graphic symbol used to differentiate the products or services of an entity, whether a natural or legal person. According to Article 711-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code, various elements can constitute a trademark: names such as words, combinations of words, surnames, geographical names, pseudonyms, letters, numbers, and acronyms; sound elements such as musical sounds or phrases; figurative elements such as designs, labels, seals, borders, embossing, holograms, logos, and digital images; shapes, particularly those of products or their packaging, as well as characteristics specific to a service; and arrangements, combinations, or shades of colors.

When a trademark is filed and becomes a registered trademark, it benefits from legal protection and an exclusive right of use for the corresponding activities.
