A select query is a frequently used operation in databases to retrieve and display specific information from one or more tables. For example, in SQL, a query might look like this: “SELECT * FROM Clients WHERE Region = ‘Rhône-Alpes’ AND Purchase Amount > 100”.

In Microsoft Access, to perform a select query, you must open your Access database, go to the “Design” tab in the “Queries” section of the interface. Then, select the “Clients” table in the “View Table” pane and click “Add”. Next, drag fields such as “Last Name”, “First Name”, “Age”, and “City” from the “Clients” table into the design grid.

To refine your query, you can specify criteria. For example, in the “Criteria” row under the “Age” field, you could type “>30” to select only customers over 30 years old. Finally, to execute the query, simply click the “Run” button in the ribbon.
