A store brand, also called a private label, is a brand created and marketed by a retailer or chain of stores under its own name or logo. These products are sold exclusively in the store’s outlets and often offer a more economical alternative to national brands, while guaranteeing comparable quality. This strategy allows the retailer to capitalize on the brand’s reputation and generally applies to generic products, but can also concern specific items or particular product lines.
