The point-of-sale (POS) display deployment index is used to assess the effectiveness of efforts to install or deploy POS displays at retailers. It is calculated by comparing the number of retailers who have actually installed the POS displays with those who have simply received the POS materials. These analyses primarily serve to evaluate the use of permanent or long-term displays, but can also be adapted to more temporary promotional campaigns. Furthermore, these studies can include an inventory of competitors’ existing POS displays. By detailing this information, it is sometimes possible to take action against retailers who are not complying with established agreements.
