The perceptron is a probabilistic concept used to store and structure data in the brain. It is a type of artificial neural network with a specific learning algorithm, designed by Frank Rosenblatt in 1958. Unlike other models, the perceptron does not have hidden layers of neurons, making it a precursor to modern neural networks. An evolution of the perceptron is the multilayer neural network (MLP).
