Law No. 96-1236 of December 30, 1996, concerning air quality and the rational use of energy, establishes a framework for protecting public health by guaranteeing everyone the right to breathe clean air. This legislation commits the State, local authorities, public institutions, and private stakeholders to act within their respective areas to prevent, monitor, reduce, or eliminate air pollution, promote air quality, and encourage the economical and rational use of energy.
Complementing the 1982 LOTI Law on the orientation of domestic transport, the urban mobility plan aims to organize the movement of people and goods, as well as traffic and parking, in a coherent manner within urban areas served by public transport. This plan is part of a comprehensive approach aimed at improving quality of life by optimizing travel and promoting more sustainable living conditions.
