In marketing, a parent brand is a company that exerts influence over several other brands, known as sub-brands. This is the case for large companies such as Danone or Nestlé, which oversee a diverse portfolio of brands in the food sector. Sometimes, the parent brand can also be a product brand. This relationship between a parent brand and its sub-brands is often highlighted in advertising campaigns, where references such as “Prince de Lu” can be seen. There are numerous examples of these parent-sub-brand links in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
