Offset printing is a non-relief printing technique inspired by lithographic methods. In this process, the document to be printed is placed on an offset plate and inked before being transferred, in reverse, onto a rubber cylinder called a blanket. This cylinder is then used to transfer the image, this time in the correct orientation, onto the surface to be printed. Using this method in a printing press, a strip of paper is printed on both sides simultaneously as it passes between two blanket holders.
