In search engine optimization (SEO), image optimization aims to achieve two distinct objectives. It can be to improve the image’s ranking in general search results or image search results, or, more commonly, to optimize the image to strengthen the SEO ranking of the page on which it is displayed. When the goal is to increase the image’s visibility in search results, this is referred to as search engine optimization (SEO). Traditional approaches to optimizing images for SEO include: adjusting the image title and filename according to the target keywords, enriching the alt text with relevant keywords, ensuring the semantic relevance of the text surrounding the image, and reducing the image size to improve page load time. In the future, with the potential integration of image recognition into the algorithms of Google and other search engines, the actual visual content of the image could also play a crucial role.
