A corner shop or corner store is generally a dedicated space for a brand or retailer within another store. In accordance with the corner concept, this space is operated by sales staff from the hosted brand, who are responsible for sales and invoicing. In exchange for the space, the brand or retailer located in the corner pays rent or a commission to the host store. The corner concept originated in Parisian department stores, primarily with perfume or fashion accessory brands, before expanding to other sectors and types of stores. Today, corners offering services such as hairdressing or makeup can be found within hypermarkets. The term “corner” can also be used to describe retail spaces without walls, found in shopping malls. These corners can be permanent or temporary, in the form of stands.
