Consumerism is a social and economic movement that aims to defend and promote the rights and interests of consumers. It encourages awareness of purchasing choices and supports fair, sustainable, and ethical business practices. This movement manifests itself through various actions, such as boycotting certain products, seeking transparency in production methods, and demanding environmentally friendly products. Initiated notably by lawyer Ralph Nader in the United States in the 1960s, the term is now sometimes replaced by expressions emphasizing the active engagement of consumers.
