The concept of “bleisure” originated from the combination of the English words “business” and “leisure.” It refers to the practice of combining business travel with personal leisure activities. Bleisure leisure time can be integrated into scheduled work-related travel or lead to an extension of the stay before or after work commitments. Companies can consider their employees’ bleisure activities, as it can be used to boost employee satisfaction and loyalty, and even offer non-monetary rewards (and therefore not subject to social security contributions) within certain limits. This concept is also relevant for stakeholders in the tourism sector, as it can influence the choices of client companies regarding activities and accommodation, as well as those of employees in their leisure activities. The TGV Lyria high-speed train provides an example of the application of the bleisure concept. The results of a BVA survey dedicated to bleisure shed further light on this emerging trend.
