Banner blindness refers to the phenomenon whereby internet users cease to notice, or consciously or unconsciously ignore, banner ads located in their usual positions on web pages. This insensitivity results from repeated exposure to advertisements, leading to decreased attention to these ads and a drop in click-through rates. To counter this phenomenon, advertisers are adapting their strategies by integrating advertising formats more naturally into the editorial content.
