Business travel is a professional trip lasting at least 24 hours, undertaken either individually or in a small group. It encompasses various types of travel, such as sales visits to prospect for new clients, inspections or follow-ups of facilities, factories, or points of sale, as well as participation in small meetings. Business travel destinations are determined by the locations to be visited, whether nationally or internationally.
Depending on the stakeholders involved, business travel can represent a significant portion of activity in the hospitality and transportation sectors. In 2016, in France, spending related to business travel reached €28.2 billion, according to the specialized agency Epsa. Globally, in 2017, this spending was estimated at $1.3 trillion, according to the GBTA BTI – Annual Global Report & Forecast.
