The Law for Confidence in the Digital Economy of June 21, 2004, establishes a set of legal rules governing the use of the Internet in France, defining the principles and obligations to be respected. This legislation aims to transpose into French law the European directives of June 8, 2000, concerning electronic commerce and the transparency of information in online communications, as well as that of July 12, 2002, relating to the protection of personal data.
