A spoofed address, whether email or postal, is a fictitious address or one specifically created to detect unsolicited mailings, such as spam, or to identify unauthorized use of a document or file. It allows for the detection and filtering of unwanted messages, the improvement of mailing list quality, the protection of legitimate users, and the alerting of the owner in case of abuse or fraudulent use.
