After the dot-com bubble burst in 2000, online activities such as information, marketing, and communication boomed on the World Wide Web. This evolution gave rise to a web-focused marketing specialty known as web marketing. A web marketer is essentially a marketing professional whose area of expertise lies primarily on the internet. Working closely with traditional marketing activities, their skills encompass both marketing and technological aspects, including mastery of web functionalities, specific tools, and various online communication channels. Sometimes, their role focuses on managing the online brand image, in which case they are called a “digital brand manager.”
