GitHub is an online platform that combines the functions of a social network and a source code hosting service. It allows users to store and manage software projects publicly or privately using Git, a version control system developed by Linus Torvalds. In 2018, Microsoft acquired GitHub, thus strengthening its presence in the technology sector.
