Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) is an inventory management system where the supplier takes over the management of their customer’s inventory, including autonomous replenishment. This process requires the supplier to have continuous access to information on the customer’s inventory levels and product movements (sales or production uses). VMI inventory management thus relies on close collaboration between the supplier and the customer to ensure efficient supply management.
