A personalization platform is an online IT tool that allows marketing offers or content to be tailored based on available information about customers or visitors. This personalization can be applied to a website or mobile application, using either an anonymous visitor profile or formal identification. It relies on browsing history and real-time data collected during navigation to meet customer expectations and needs.

Recommendations can be generated according to rules defined manually by marketing managers or through personalization algorithms. Personalized elements are usually displayed in dedicated areas, while in the absence of sufficient data, a default, non-personalized offer (such as bestsellers) is presented. These platforms can also be used to personalize communications via email or other channels, as Hyatt hotels do by offering customized services to their guests upon arrival.

Furthermore, personalization platforms can adapt offers based on contextual variables such as weather, time of day, or day of the visit, creating a personalized and contextualized experience. This personalization/contextualization approach improves customer interaction and optimizes business results.
