A pingback is an automatic link established between two online pieces of content, activated as soon as one article contains a link to another. For example, if article 1 on site A links to article 2 on site B, a pingback will be generated from article 2 on site B to article 1 on site A. These pingback notifications are displayed alongside the comments for each post. It is often advisable to disable pingbacks to avoid unwanted links from spam sites.
